PufCreativ’s Cannabis Marketing Internship Program

pufcreativ cannabis marketing internships

PufCreativ is proud to have its first two college interns! Internships started this summer and will continue throughout the fall and early winter seasons. We’ll be looking for two new interns in the spring of 2021.

Our internships provide a unique experience for students from anywhere in the country to learn about being an entrepreneur in the cannabis industry, and what it’s like to do remote cannabis marketing on a national scale — all while giving the students an opportunity to customize their experience along the way.

Our Approach to Internships

We’ve all done internships when we were in college. A lot of them involved executing tedious tasks or learning something that had nothing to do with the actual intended purpose of the internship. In turn, this can be a disappointment and discouraging for any young college student.

At PufCreativ, we take a different approach to our internship program, aside from the fact that a cannabis marketing internship is certainly unique on its own. Prior to the start of the internship, our CEO works directly with our interns; having them answer a series of questions, outlining their goals for the internship and then letting them ask him their own set of questions. He then customizes a program that allows the students to create deliverables they can use in their own business and/or portfolio, while also being involved in real life entrepreneurial situations and communicating about the direction they’d like their internship to head as it continues.

What Are Our Interns Currently Working On?

Our interns, Chelsea and Cameron, both took a similar direction at the beginning of their internships, but now are starting to diversify and evolve their experiences. They speak with our CEO on Zoom every few weeks, and are both in our PufCreativ Slack workspace to stay connected.

Chelsea mentioned early on that she wanted to start a podcast. We agreed we could have her internship revolve around the podcast so she could have a quality deliverable to work with once the internship was over. We started with her creating a brand, a social media profile on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn, a creative direction, and hashtag strategy. As she posts, she checks in with the PufCreativ team for insight and feedback. She’s planning to do a website, but in the meantime we identified we wanted to capture people’s information. We provided a temporary call to action by creating a MailChimp newsletter landing page that she can direct traffic to in order to store listeners’ information and utilize it down the road. On top of sitting in on calls with clients and leads, Chelsea is also working with our public relations partner, Chatter Club, to diversify and expand her knowledge of public relations from a cannabis, non-cannabis and hemp perspective. We’re excited to give her the skills she’ll need to push her brand, content, and media.

Cameron told us early on that he wanted to learn about cannabis-specific marketing. We started with him creating a local cannabis review brand, a social media profile on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn, a creative direction, and hashtag strategy. As he posts, he also checks in with the PufCreativ team for insight and feedback. He’s planning to do a website, but in the meantime we also identified that we wanted to capture people’s information. We provided a temporary call to action by creating a mailchimp newsletter landing page. In addition to this, Cameron also has started his own actual business in screen printing and utilizes everything he’s learned thus far in his internship to generate revenue. He often speaks with our CEO about leadership and sits in on calls with leads.
