The team behind Hangar 420, one of Rhode Island’s leading cultivation companies, came to us with a bold vision: build the most authentic dispensary brand in the state, and launch it in under 60 days. The timeline was tight, but their energy was undeniable. With license acquisition already underway, we jumped in immediately.

From the start, the pineapple became the heart of the brand. In Newport, it’s a long-standing symbol of hospitality dating back to the 18th century, making it the perfect emblem for a dispensary rooted in healing, community, and genuine welcome.

We began with brand identity, aiming to capture a distinctly coastal feel without slipping into cliché. The pineapple logo set the tone, paired with a warm, ocean-inspired color palette and clean typography. The visual system translated seamlessly across packaging, signage, merchandise, and digital assets (reflecting Newport’s spirit while giving the brand room to grow).

Website Design & Development

We built a fully custom native website using our headless e-commerce plugin, developed specifically for Dutchie Plus. This setup gave us complete control over design and performance while delivering faster load times and a seamless user experience. The site features a custom homepage product carousel, dynamic deal cards, and built-in sales enablement tools designed to highlight promotions and drive action.

We also launched a spin-wheel popup that converted 2,921 website visitors into loyalty members within the first three months, solely through the popup, on top of thousands of additional in-store sign-ups. During that same period, the site saw a 129% increase in new users, a 73.6% engagement rate, and an average session duration of 6 minutes and 19 seconds.

Public Relations

We developed a PR strategy that introduced the brand to both local customers and the wider cannabis industry. Coverage landed in mg Magazine, The Associated Press, The Providence Herald, and Rhode Island Newswire, delivering a blend of national exposure and local credibility. 

The launch weekend was capped by a branded plane flying over town. It was a moment that sparked widespread social sharing and buzz. Together, these efforts generated more than 16,400 backlinks in the first month, giving Newport Cannabis Co. a powerful debut.

Building Local Visibility with a Strong SEO Foundation

The SEO strategy began with a deep technical cleanup to ensure a seamless transition from the previous license holder. We mapped redirects, resolved crawl issues, updated metadata, and refreshed the Google Business Profile. With a solid technical foundation in place, we launched a local content and backlink strategy that secured top search rankings for terms like “dispensary Portsmouth RI” and “dispensary near me.”

Within the first two months, organic search traffic increased by 1,100%, impressions rose 512%, click-through rate more than doubled to 10.3%, and Google Business Profile visibility grew by 32%.

In their most recent December 2025 report, Organic Search accounted for 57% of total sessions and increased +40.3% QoQ, making Google searches the largest contributor to overall traffic growth during the quarter, well ahead of other acquisition channels. Competitive local searches posted major improvements, including dispensary near me (+87.5% clicks, +89.9% impressions), Portsmouth dispensary (+127% clicks), dispensary Portsmouth RI (+56.4% clicks, top-1 position), and Portsmouth RI dispensary (+417.6% clicks), reinforcing strong local SEO dominance in core service areas.

Converting First-Time Visitors into Loyal Customers

In the first three months of loyalty management, we drove more than 3,027 new sign-ups directly from the website through a spin-wheel popup. These members came entirely from online traffic, with additional sign-ups generated in-store through on-site conversion efforts. 

This early momentum built a strong foundation for retention and repeat engagement. During the same period, the program generated $61,798 in engaged loyalty revenue, demonstrating the immediate impact of pairing smart data capture with targeted follow-up strategies.

In their most recent December 2025 report, we drove $27,498 in loyalty-attributed revenue for their single store in that month alone, using a very strict attribution formula.

Driving Immediate Traffic with Targeted Google Advertising

To drive traffic from day one, we launched geo-targeted Google Ads campaigns across Newport, Portsmouth, and surrounding areas. The focus was on high-intent searches like “dispensary near me” and “cannabis in Rhode Island.” Strong ad copy, precise targeting, and high-converting landing pages kept spend efficient while driving meaningful results.

Our reporting is based strictly on e-commerce transactions tracked through last-click attribution. During that period, the campaigns delivered an average return on ad spend of 535.78%, with an average transaction value of $89.40 and a cost per click of $1.65.
